In addition to its home airport in Bolzano, Verona and Rome-Fiumicino airports are also important bases for the airline. Particularly noteworthy: SkyAlps focuses on short-haul routes, which are often no longer served by larger airlines, and therefore offers an attractive alternative for travellers.
The service is highly seasonal and there are plans to offer more feeder services from Bolzano and other regional airports to the major hubs in the future. This opens up new opportunities for travellers to plan their journeys conveniently.
Comfort and service on board
SkyAlps describes itself as a ‘boutique airline’ and sets itself apart with its high quality of service and comfort, without exorbitant prices compared to the competition. A monthly changing wine list with four regional wines ensures a special flavour experience during the flight.
The cabin of the SkyAlps fleet is designed in a 2-2 configuration, which ensures a pleasant travelling experience. There are no different travel classes, so that all passengers can enjoy the same high level of comfort.
The modern SkyAlps fleet
SkyAlps relies on a standardised fleet of Bombardier DHC-8-Q400 aircraft. These twin-engine turboprop aircraft are ideal for short-haul flights and approaches to the picturesque Bolzano airport, which is surrounded by mountains. SkyAlps currently operates eight aircraft with 76 seats. In the future, the fleet could be expanded to up to 14 aircraft, which emphasises the airline's growth.
The average age of the aircraft is 16 years, and some aircraft have previously flown for well-known airlines such as Air Berlin and Austrian Airlines. SkyAlps has also temporarily leased an ATR42 from NyxAir to increase capacity.
